Each Shapton GlassStone #30,000* Ceramic Sharpening Stone
consists of 5mm of abrasive mounted on a 5mm thick piece
of glass. It has a .49 micron particle size - making it
the world's finest sharpening stone. The sharpness this
level of stone creates is beyond description.
The Shapton GlassStones Series are formulated differently
than the Professional stones, but are used the same exact
way. Even though there is only 5mm of abrasive, this
stone will still last more than a lifetime, and is a
much more available and affordable alternative to the
15mm Professional Series #30,000 grit stone. It is
strongly recommended that your tool or knife be properly
shaped and sharpened to #15,000 grit Pro or #16,000 Glass
before using this
stone.
For keeping this stone flat and clean over time, we
suggest a Compact Lapping Plate with powders, a DRLP,
or a DGLP. Please see the related product links below

plastic stone holder that doubles as a storage box.
However, this stone is the same length and width as
the Professional Series, and is completely compatible
with all other Shapton Products, including the Compact
Lapping Plate, DRLP, and DGLP.
